Azure/Microsoft Partner Network benefits
As Microsoft partners we're eligible for benefits within Azure and other Microsoft products. This includes Visual Studio and Windows licenses amongst others, which you can claim on the Visual Studio Subscription site (previously MSDN). Note: you must be using your @cloudninedev.se account.
Azure MPN subscriptions
One important benefit are a free, personal subscriptions in Azure. They enable us to experiment and learn using monthly credits and a spending limit. Key limitations are that they may not run production or client workloads, and the spending limit disallows a few types of resources from being created (e.g. Azure dev box).
Redeeming your Azure MPN subscription
- Log onto the Cloud Nine Azure Portal (your @cloudninedev.se account).
- Go to Subscriptions.
- Click "➕ Add".
- Click "All other offers".
- Click "Check eligibility" for Visual Studio Enterprise Subscription – MPN (take care not to use a similar one, like Visual Studio Enterprise Subscription).
- Create your subscription. You will need to verify your phone number with a text message.
- Send a message to a Cloud Nine Azure administrator so that they can perform the steps below.
For Azure administrators
When a user has redeemed their subscription, navigate to the subscription within the portal and do the following:
- Assign the user as Owner of the subscription. Allow the user to create role assignments, but not administrative role assignments. As of writing, there are three options and we use the "Recommended" one.
- Update the name of the subscription by adding a suffix to it. The suffix should be "(First name)", e.g. "Visual Studio Enterprise Subscription - MPN (Kalle)".
- Move the subscription to the "CN Playground" management group.
